There is so much to see in San Francisco, that I have posted the entries about the city before our trip because I will never have the time to do it while we are there. It will also give the girls a chance to preview what we are going to see by clicking on the links. With the small streets, hills, and limited parking in San Francisco, we are going to get around on a hop on hop off bus tour. I found one that has a few different loops to give us some options. Here is a sneak peak at the downtown loop.
We'll start this loop at Fisherman's Wharf and Pier 39 and walk over to Ghiardelli Square. Fisherman's Wharf is definitely touristy, but heck that's what we are. Ghiardelli's is the Hershey of the West Coast and we'll definitely be getting some souvenirs. Then its off to the Ferry Building which is now a farmers market, Union Square, Chinatown and North Beach. San Francisco's Chinatown is huge and I like going through the shops there. North Beach is an Italian neighborhood full of good restaurants. From here we'll walk over to Telegraph Hill to see Coit Tower. There are very steep steps on Filbert Street on Telegraph Hill leading down to the Embarcadaro. I almost died walking up them when I was there before so if we are going to do them, its probably downhill. There are houses and gardens built into this hillside and they have wild parrots living in the trees there. At everyone of these stops there are lots of places to eat, so we'll need to walk a bit to make up for it.

Another bus loop goes by Lombard Street, the Presidio, the Palace of Fine Arts, the Golden Gate Bridge and Chrissy Field, and Sausalito. We'll see if we are brave enough to do this drive on Lombard Street. There is also a bus loop through Golden Gate Park and another loop that runs at night to the popular restaurant and entertainment venues. So much to see in such a short time.
